I just came across HexaTrack - a FREE Ad Spying and Keyword Tracking application.
Back in early 2007, a number of applications gave birth to “Ad Spying” - automated tracking of PPC ads over time to see which ones ran consistently, the idea being that nobody would pay to run ads indefinitely if they weren’t profitable. The premise is a good one, though all of us who jumped into it quickly found that simply copying long-running ads wasn’t all there was to it. Still, Ad Spying works, and there are many benefits to tracking the competition.
Unfortunately, those were some very pricey applications, costing as much as $1500 plus $50-100 per month (think Google Cash Detective and Undercover Profits).
Today I came across a new entry to the Ad Spying game from HexaTrack. And they are offering a free version!
But EVEN BETTER than that- this same free application does Keyword Tracking! Unless you are brand-new to PPC, you already know that Keyword Tracking is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL - literally the difference between making money and losing your shirt. Keyword Tracking shows you which keywords were responsible for your sales, not just clicks.
You can see a video of the program in action and sign up for a free account HERE.
HexaTrack comes in two sizes: Basic (free), and Pro ($47/mo.) - the hope is that you’ll like the application so much, you’ll upgrade to the Pro version. A great way to market something like this, and they are providing real value either way.
Of course the free version is not quite as robust as the Pro version - for instance, the Ad Spying keyword limit on the Pro version is 8 times larger than the free version, but all of the important features work in both. The Keyword Tracking - otherwise known as Conversion Tracking - supports many of the big affiliate networks on both versions.
I have just signed up myself, and so far it looks very promising. Currently, we use Affiliate Radar for most of our Keyword Tracking, and regular readers know we don’t promote anything we don’t use ourselves, so look for an update once I’ve had a chance to use this for a while.
Still, the feature set is good, and the price is right!
