War of the WorldsList building is one of the foundations for successful Internet marketing. One of the most basic strategies for building on-going sustainable business is creating a list.

One of the best ways to create a list is by giving away high-value freebies and bonuses. Here is an excellent resource for good, high-value freebies and bonuses that can be used by anyone, in almost any niche:

http://www.planetpdf.com/free_pdf_ebooks.asp

Here you will find dozens of free, pre-formatted and nicely produced PDF’s of public domain literature classics - with NO affiliate links!

Everything from “Alice in Wonderland” and “Crime and Punishment” to “Aesop’s fables” and “Grimm’s fairy tales”, to H. G. Wells “War of the Worlds”.

Regardless of your niche, you can find one or more of these that will be a welcome freebie or bonus to anyone!

So how do you go about actually building a list? There are many methods, most using ’squeeze’ pages (pages with opt-in forms, called “name-squeeze” or just “squeeze” pages, because they ’squeeze’ you, or force you to opt-in in order to continue).

Here is an easy, innovative method to build a very focused list, using eBay:

EBay is a terrific source for leads and niche research for a number of reasons. Chief among them, people come to eBay ready to buy. And once they are at eBay, they self-identify their interests by surfing the categories they are interested in.

Using the Planet PDF free Classics, create some 1 penny auctions, or preferably BIN’s (”Buy It Now” listings) with quantity 50 or so, and list them under the categories that fit the niche you want to build your list for. Don’t worry that these PDF’s aren’t directly related to the niche, these are an almost irresistable buy for a penny, and anyone seeing these listings are seeing them in your niche. If you write a good description of your auction, you should get pretty good response. EBay also allows you to link to an offsite page if it’s for informational purposes. That page can have a link to a squeeze page.

Not only will this help you generate a very focused and targeted list, but you can respond to every inquiry, or ‘ASQ’ — Ask Seller a Question — with additional follow-up. Create a link on your about me page to a squeeze page, listed prominently in your auction listings, and point every inquiry to it as well.

This is a great method for developing an extremely highly qualified and targeted list. So targeted, in fact, that you should quickly make back any listing fees right away!
