I can’t stress the importance of keyword research strongly enough! Whether you are creating ad campaigns, doing SEO, or creating landing pages / mini-sites, the “key” to your success rests on your keywords. If you aren’t using the keywords a user is searching, you are invisible. And to build on current success, you should always be trying to grow your keyword list - with the right keywords, of course!
There are many good keyword-generating tools, but if you’re serious about this stuff, you also need to think ‘outside the box. One great source for keywords is news and popular culture. If something is talked about on Oprah or CNN, or written about in People or Forbes, you can bet there are going to be a lot of searches on the key phrases.
[tag-tec]Google News[/tag-tec] searches a vast array of online, print, and television sources, divided by category including World, US, Business, Health, Entertainment, etc. Plus, you can subscribe via RSS and get a constantly-updated stream of stories. These are goldmines of high-volume search phrases that you won’t get from the ‘traditional’ keyword tools.
