There’s NO SUCH THING as a 10 cent keyword!
A few months ago I wrote an article with that title. It drew lot of attention and criticism. But it’s important to understand the premise. When you create an ad campaign in AdWords, each of your keywords has a Minimum Bid that you must meet in order to trigger your ad for that keyword. One of the ongoing objectives for any campaign, is to pay as little as possible, while getting the best conversion.
So what exactly determines the Min. Bid for keyword? The base cost for keywords is largely determined by the competition for that keyword. The more popular it is, the more search volume, and the more advertisers looking to advertise on it, the higher the cost. “Car insurance” costs more than “fruitcake recipe” for obvious reasons. However my Min. Bid for “car insurance”, and your Min. Bid for “car insurance” are not likely to be the same. Many of the factors that go into your ongoing CPC also determine your initial Min. Bid. They are not the same for everybody in every case. This is an important concept. This is why there is no such thing as a $.10 keyword or a $.50 keyword or a one dollar keyword. Google determines your Minimum Bid dynamically.
Once again it’s all about “Quality Score”. Quality Score is the formula that Google use is to determine the relevance the of your ad, Keyword and landing page. The more relevant these things seem to be too Google, the higher your quality score, the lower your Min. Bid, and the cheaper your cost per click. We all understand keyword relevancy. Your keywords should appears in your ad. If they don’t, then you are probably not creating small enough adgroups. Split your keyword list into smaller adgroups so that each adgroup has it’s keywords matched to it’s ad.

Getting “UnSlapped”
A “Google Slap” is simply a Quality Score mis-match between keyword, ad, and landing page. Period.
A few weeks ago, we began using PPCRiches to “UnSlap” some campaigns. Most of you already know we only promote the products we use ourselves. PPCRiches has worked so well, both to “UnSlap” old campaigns, and give us “Great” Quality Score on every NEW campaign, that we’ve begun promoting it - along with the CRAZIEST, MOST VALUABLE BONUS WE’VE EVER DONE! But more on that in a moment.
Your AdWords Quality Score is a calculation combining the relevancy of your keyword, ad, and landing page. What PPCRiches does is to automatically generate a PERFECT “silo” site - with content! - based on your keyword list, then generates destination URL’s that couple your keyword to your ‘perfect’ landing page!
You input your keywords, then PPCR goes out to a proprietary 1 million article database, pulls dozens of perfectly-matched articles, and assembles them into a perfect ’silo’ site. It then generates a landing page and destination URL, one for each keyword, to create a perfect “Quality Score Matched” set!
In addition, PPCR gives you the landing page templates, and includes “frameset” code allowing you to do direct-linking that still gets “Great” Quality Score!
We’ve been able to take our Ad Spying data and ‘walk right in’ to the most competitive niches, COPY the ‘profitable’ ads, and from the moment they are launched, get the SAME OR BETTER Min. Bids as the ads that are ‘profitable’ - the main reason why you COULDN’T successfully ‘copy’ profitable campaigns before!
You can now download PPCRiches for a free, 7-day ‘test-drive’! If you decide to keep it, or purchase it right away, we will give you up to 1/2 hour phone or Skype consultation with Michael (his normal consulting rate, nearly always booked up a month in advance is $250/hr with $1500 min. comittment!) to go over EXACTLY how we’re using PPCRiches to make a KILLING!)
(IMPORTANT: PPCRiches is a sophisticated tool. Make sure you watch the first ‘how-to’ video before trying to use it.)
We can only do this for the first 10, as Michael truly doesn’t have too much more time available, ‘free’ or otherwise. You are welcome to email me if you think this is something you might want to do, and want to ‘reserve’ the time.

“Buy” Keywords
Recently I had the chance to hear Jeremy Palmer, one of the most successful PPC affiliate marketers, talk about how he consistently gets such high conversions. One of the points he emphasized was thinking about how people “buy”, rather than how people “search”. Traditional PPC wisdom suggests your best keywords are the ones people are using to search for what you’re advertising. No rocket science there. What Jeremy was saying was that there’s a subtle distinction in how people search when they’re likely to buy. He went on to talk about “buy” keywords.
I just came across a wonderful free tool that helps do exactly what Jeremy was suggesting. CovertSEM’s Keyword Research Engine takes a seed keyword and mixes it with phrases to generate new keyword lists. It provides you with check-boxes to tell it what sort of keyword list you want. “Base Power Words” combines your keyword with words such as “good”, “great”, “best”, “maximum”, “popular”, “proven”, “powerful” and a hundred others. Similarly, the ‘Demographics’ box mixes your keyword with words such as “child”, “kids”, “girl”, “girls”, “womens”, etc. A terrific way to generate a “Buy” keyword list!
