Every one of the nearly 500 GCD users on this email list has the same objective: make ourselves a lot of money with the program. Unfortunately, it hasn’t worked out that way for the vast majority.
One of the chief reasons is that the program hasn’t worked correctly. The concept is sound, the application isn’t.
The idea of identifying profitable ad campaigns and then copying them is an incredibly powerful idea - who wasn’t sold by the features touted in the sales material, or the videos demonstrating the ease with which Chris Carpenter was able to load keywords, have them crawled for a few weeks, then see the profitable ads all lit up!
I bought GCD within 20 minutes of the initial launch. It still has not delivered on it’s promise, and the support has been about the worst I have experienced, but for months I continued to pour considerable time, money, and resources into it. Why? Because I realized the HUGE potential of ad spying.
When AdSpyPro, a competing $50 ad spying program was released, I bought it immediately. Unfortunately, it had it’s own set of issues, including the need to set everything up on my own host - again.
During this period of frustration, I stumbled across ZamDoo (http://www.zamdoo.com), a hosted application with the same features I had bought GCD for. I went to their forum (http://www.zamdooforums.com/), and was ABSOLUTELY bowled over!
First, I found the programmers practically LIVED on the forum, answering many of my questions quickly and personally. In fact, I found the whole forum community uniformly helpful. And no one seemed to have their posts deleted!
Most impressive was that the programmers were asking users what they wanted and adding features regularly. And offering free use of the application during the beta!
I signed up and began using the application. It is easy to use, requiring little more than a small download, and - IT WORKS! CONSISTENTLY!
Finally, I had found an application that actually performed the way I hoped GCD would when I bought it.
Now here’s the Big News: after conveying the frustration I’ve heard from so many of you and seen on the GCD forum, the programmers of ZamDoo have agreed to letting all of you join the beta - and committed to not charging a penny as long as they remained in beta! And I will tell you from direct, extensive personal experience, the ZamDoo beta works better than the current $500 release version GCD.
In other words, you can now get all that you thought you were getting with GCD, at NO COST for the duration of the beta!
Those of you who wanted to implement the system I outlined in the last Melanies Tips can do it with ZamDoo. It’s how I’m doing it for myself right now. And it is working exactly as expected.
ZamDoo will be priced as a monthly subscription with different usage levels purchasable. The basic level will include the ability to run 5000 keywords, the forums, support, etc. and will be approximately the same cost as Automator.
Do yourselves a favor - spend some time on the forum, and take advantage of this opportunity to join the beta. Just send an email to dave@zamdoo.com and mention that you received this email.
UPDATE: The new site is a few days behind schedule. Look for an email with the address next week.
As always, feel free to send me your comments and questions.
Melanie
